Jan Erin Corzo formed "The Benefit Boutique" in order to support others in need while striving to build stronger relationships between her neighbors.
Despite the challenges of Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), she was inspired to create a way to fundraise from her own home.
She began by assembling clothing racks and filling them with her high end, pre-loved dresses and heels she could no longer utilize. Being a woman with like-minded friends, she shared her idea, soon her home was a hub for bags upon boxes from her comrades with similar items.
This movement of neighborly love continually grows as charitable events are held to strengthen the bond between women. Shoppers are invited to donate their own clothing, accessories and children's toys as a means of swapping.
It furthers our culture of slow, and sustainable, fashion. The hope is that as we pass through different phases of our lives we can form a sisterhood that shares our changing clothing along with our experiences as women, mothers and every role in between, with each other.
Jan strongly believes that if you take care of others your own burdens lessen.
Posh with Purpose, the tagline of The Benefit Boutique, means that every penny you spend goes directly to three worthy causes.
These being: a military nonprofit, a women's and children's nonprofit and a qualified person in need.
These groups will always be close to home or contribuing to our community here in Lafayette, Louisiana.
In all that we do here, we do with love, always.
